Medal for local athletes at the national judo circuit

Members of the Moose Jaw Koseikan Judo Club attended the Manitoba Open in Winnipeg, the first Canadian Tour tournament of this season, on October 15-16, 2022. They achieved impressive results and took home the equipment necessary to show it.

Avery Gibney (-52kg) won a bronze medal in the U18 category and a silver medal in a fight in the Senior category.

Kolbi Fenrick (-57kg) won a gold medal in the U18 category and a bronze medal in a fight in the Senior category.

Felix Leonard (-38kg) won a silver medal in the U14 category.

Avery Gibney and Kolbi Fenrick attended as part of Team Sask.

Moose Jaw coach Destiny Gibney participated as the Sask team coach and Moose Jaw coach Jim Wiens participated as the Sask team manager.

The next events on the Canadian circuit are the Quebec Open on November 5-6 and the Ontario Open on November 12-13.

Avery Gibney, Kolbi Fenrick and Felix Leonard will participate in these tournaments as members of Team Saskatchewan and will participate in a training camp at the National Institute of Sport in Montreal. Destiny Gibney will be participating in these events as coach of Team Saskatchewan.
