Ludhiana, October 19
Ludhiana and Ferozepur have annexed titles in boys and girls U-17 categories, respectively, in the softball competition in the ongoing state level Khedan Vatan Punjab Diyan organized by the Punjab sports department here on Wednesday.
Competitions in 30 sports disciplines are held at nine venues across the state in which a total of 1,725 players (911 boys and 814 girls) compete for top honors. Ludhiana hosts four matches: handball, softball, judo and basketball.
In the boys’ (softball) final, hosts Ludhiana dominated Amritsar while Fazilka secured third position. In the girls section, Ferozepur overpowered Ludhiana to clinch the title while Fazilka finished in third place.
In handball (U-17 boys), Jalandhar and Patiala secured the top two positions while Amritsar and Fatehgarh Sahib jointly secured the third position.
Similarly, in girls, Mohali emerged as champion, followed by Faridkot in second place. Ferozepur and Hoshiarpur share the third position.
In judo (boys U-17), Patiala won the overall championship and Mohali got second position and Bhatinda had to settle for third position.
